The Challenge
Two separate VMware clusters, one consolidation opportunity
The Pitt St OSD environment ran on a 3-node Production vCenter cluster and a separate 3-node Disaster Recovery vCenter cluster, orchestrated through VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM). This dual-cluster model carried significant ongoing VMware licensing costs and added operational complexity: two environments to patch, monitor and manage instead of one.
What Rinfras Delivered
A single consolidated Hyper-V S2D cluster with full redundancy retained
Rinfras migrated the entire environment onto a modern Microsoft Hyper-V Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) platform, consolidating what had been two separate 3-node VMware clusters into a single 6-node Hyper-V S2D cluster. The new platform keeps full redundancy across the environment while removing the overhead of managing Production and DR as two separate VMware estates.
