Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON)
GPON is the type of fiber-optic communication technology used in networking to provide high-speed internet, data and voice services to users. It is a specific implementation of passive optical network technology. It uses passive splitters to enables one single fiber to serve multiple connections. GPON technology supports FTTH (Fiber to the home) connection for fast and reliable internet access.
Rinfras highly experienced engineers specializes in designing and deploying GPON Network which helped our client to achieve high speed internet for their clients.

Below are the key components of a GPON Network:
Optical Line Terminal (OLT)
The OLT is the central control unit in a GPON network. It is typically located at the main communication rooms and manages the flow of data between the main communication network and the end points.
Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or Optical Network Unit (ONU)
The ONU/ONT is installed at the end location (rooms, floors and homes). It serves as the endpoint of the GPON network, converting optical signals back into electrical signals that can be used by devices such as computers, phones, wireless access points and routers.
Passive Optical Splitter
The passive splitter is a key component in a GPON network. It divides the incoming optical signal from the OLT into multiple output fibers, allowing multiple end points to share the same fiber optic infrastructure.
Downstream and Upstream Channels
GPON networks support both downstream and upstream data channels. The downstream channel carries data from the main comms to the end points, while the upstream channel carries data from the end points back to the main comms.
High Bandwidth
GPON technology provides high bandwidth capabilities, making it suitable for delivering services like high-speed internet, HD video streaming, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), and more.
Efficiency
GPON uses time-division multiplexing (TDM) to allocate bandwidth among multiple end points, ensuring efficient use of the available network resources.
Cost-Effectiveness
GPON networks offer cost-effective solutions for delivering high-speed broadband services, particularly in areas where laying traditional copper-based infrastructure might be challenging or expensive.
In today’s world GPON has proved economically feasible solution for Hotels, Multi-story apartments, retirement villages, hospitals, schools, shopping centers etc.
